A FEW OF OUR FAVOUITE THINGS
We have been lucky to visit Sitges and Barcelona several times, but there are so many places we are yet to discover
If you're stuck for inspiration, here are a few of our favourite things
SITGES
Running
Run beside the fabulous beaches of Sitges. The wide, tree-lined promenade is a stunning out and back 5k
Brunch
Federal Cafe for its clean modern interior and menu
Costa (not the coffee chain) for its sunny location on the beachfront. We recommend the Iberian ham and cheese croissant with a fresh orange juice
Lunch/Dinner
Tarantana has a decent daily three-course fixed price menu offering that's a good mix between quality and price
Fabrika is higher-end fare that's worth the price
Bars
The rooftop bar on the seventh floor of Hotel MiM is hard to beat for its fabulous views
Taxis
Taxis are not as abundant in Sitges as they are in downtown Barcelona. They are easy and quick to order (in our experience) but you won't find many on the streets waiting to be flagged down
Trains
The RS2 regularly leave Sitges for downtown Barcelona. The fare is circa €4.60 per person one-way. Once in Barcelona use the metro to get around or, better still, explore on foot or take a cycle tour (recommendation below)
BARCELONA
Cocktails
There are so many great cocktail bars. If we had to pick one, our standout choice would be Dr. Stravinsky.
Smokey, bitter, sweet, floral? Here you order based on your preferred flavour profile. Everything is distilled or home-made on-site. There are no brands here. World class cocktail experience. Small bar so book ahead
Ice Cream
There's good gelato to be found all over the city.
One of our favourite spots is Oggi Gelato (try their ice cream in a brioche bun)
Place of Interest
Sagrada Familia is breathtaking inside and out. A must visit if you venture to Barcelona
Park Guell. One of the largest parks in Barcalona and a UNESCO world heritage site. Well worth the climb up to it
Sightseeing
Our private cycle tour with Steel Donkey was worth every penny. So much more than a simple bike tour. Most of the cycling is done in dedicated cycle lanes and car-free routes. You'll be on and off to visit free attractions
Taxis
Can be found everywhere. And Uber works, too. Generally an affordable means of transport (especially if there's a few of you) but the metro is excellent and easy to navigate
Lunch/Dinner
Sensi Tapas is simply the best. You must go! If you can't get a reservation you could try Sensi Bistro a short walk away
Viana is a small bar and grill with excellent fare and friendly waiting staff
La Tasqueta de Blai for its Pintxo
